Today’s post is a disjointed, out-of-sequence ramble of thoughts. I apologize, and am also feeling unburdened for having shared. Thanks for listening…

On the road to Dawson City today.
4:45 AM
I am beside myself with stress about the final leg of the trip. Did I make the right plan with my tires? What if I get a flat? Where will I stay in Inuvik? Can I even ride the Dempster Highway in this weather? Did I miss my window of good weather, and now it’s going to be scary, slick mud and calcium chloride until it snows?!
I have to at least put my tire on the Dempster and see if I can make it. Just trying to get to Eagle Plains is the next step. Beyond that, we’ll see how it goes.

Today, I caught up with my Utah Stalkers again — this time on the Klondike Highway. We were at one of the designated photo sites along the road, supposedly with an awesome view of the (Yukon River?) just north of the Five Finger Rapids. However, the brush in front of the viewing stand was so thick nothing could be seen.
“Have no fear, folks”, our hero cried out and drew a drone for Storm’s tank bag. Ten L O N G minutes later, I still couldn’t make the drone work, so the Stalkers bid us goodbye and carried on their way.
Not 2 minutes later, I solved the connection issue and the drone was aloft.
The footage turned out nicely.
6:00 PM
My stalkers found me again on the street in Dawson City, so over dinner I showed them the footage. We all agreed — every time a Yukon road sign says the view is photo-worthy, they aren’t lying.
See for yourself.
This town is seriously cute! They’ve done a great job preserving and restoring many of the original buildings. But they’ve done a fabulous job of making sure all newly built/renovated buildings keep to the same old-timey spirit, if not architectural style. Nothing looks out of place here. I love it.
2:00 AM
The sun set hours ago, but it’s not full dark yet. The sky is dark-ish. The high clouds are clearly visible in the moonlight. The town is still as a tomb.

Dee, your drone footage is so nice. Very professionally done.
Thanks for joining us for dinner and sharing the footage.
Great footage! Buildings look like a Hollywood set 🙂
